Atlantic Bluefin Tuna (BFT) CHART Program

CHART stands for CatcH And Release Tagging. It is a scientific data collection program for Atlantic bluefin tuna (BFT) primarily operating in UK and Welsh waters.

Objective: To gather data on the occurrences and health of Bluefin tuna through a recreational catch-and-release fishery.

How it Works: Authorized charter boat skippers are trained and licensed to take paying customers out to catch, tag, and release BFT safely.

Current Status (2026): For the 2026 season, applications typically open in early to mid-year (based on 2025 schedules).
